On Saturday, November 3rd, Bethany Christian School in Sierra Madre was all a-buzz with excitement as the Sierra Madre community and beyond came to enjoy the school’s 1st Annual BCS Fall Family Festival. The Festival was the first of its kind for BCS—an event that was truly community wide, and one that would support not only the school, but also benefit and create awareness for a worthy volunteer organization in Sierra Madre - The Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team.
An abundance of fun activities for the whole family were packed onto the school campus—a petting zoo and pony rides from Happy Halters; demonstrations from Sierra Madre Search and Rescue; bounce houses, giant slides and mazes; a dozen carnival games with prizes to win; a silent auction; art activities from Paint the Town, as well as face painting and pumpkin painting; a bake sale; live music from
The Conductors (See Video Clip here); karaoke; and food—lots of food!—from Domenico’s Italian Restaurant, Pie N’ Burger, Bean Town, Mother Moo, and Mandoline Grill. Principal James Lugenbuehl enjoyed seeing all the kids having so much fun. He also noted how the event really pulled the whole BCS community together to look beyond ourselves and serve the community at large, namely The Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team.
“I saw dozens of BCS parents volunteering to staying late and arriving early to set up and breakdown all the festival structures. I saw people introducing themselves to each other, laughing and enjoying working together, to make this event possible.” More Pictures Here
PTF president Lisa Willingham said, “Thank you to all for helping to make the 1st Annual BCS Fall Family Festival a great success! I am amazed at the effort you all put toward our collective goal of making the Fall Family Festival represent the best of what Bethany Christian School has to offer.”
As one third grade girl with butterfly wings painted on her face enthusiastically commented, “This was awesome! We should do this every year!” That is a great idea!
