A sweet morning of science and math
Pi Day -- 03/14/13
Do you like pie? How about pi?
On March 14th, Preschool - 8th Grade students at Bethany Christian School learned about the wonderful ubiquitous number that has been woven throughout nature and also bears the same name as a tasty dessert.
Parents joined us for math and science demonstrations, experiments, and lots of fun.
The day began with an introduction and contest to see who could recite the most digits of pi; the winners of each class competition faced off in a battle to determine the 2013 BCS school champion. Next, multiple enrichment stations inspired wonder and excitement for students in the areas of math and science. BCS parents who work in the areas of astrophysics, education, biology, and medicine illuminated and guided us on our science journey. We had a break between groups to enjoy some pie.
Students, staff and parents got into the spirit of the day by wearing anything science or math related.
We had pies. Lots of pies. Apple, rhubarb, banana cream, or any other kind of pie.
A HUGE "Thank you" to everyone who volunteered and helped with setup, cleanup, manned the individual stations, and encouraged the students throughout the day.
"For since the Creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” ~ Romans 1:20
