Today was STEP #4 of becoming STRONG Leaders with the Apex Team. Our students learned what it means to Overcome. The Apex Team talked about the double A rule: Attitude and Action! Remember, leaders never quit! Here is our top 3 leaderboard to-date: 1st: Howe (4) $81/lap 2nd: Morgan (2) $80/lap 3rd: Hawes (6) $69/lap Last night's Challenge winner was..... Greetings Bethany Christian Families! Today was STEP #3 of becoming STRONG Leaders with the Apex Team. Our students learned what it means to REFUEL and why it is so important to take care of our three tanks: Our brain, our body, and our soul. We can only be STRONG leaders by taking care of our body through consistent exercise and healthy eating habits. We give our brains a break by getting a good amount of sleep, not worrying or stressing and not spending too much time on our devices. We fill our soul by spending time in God’s word. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4 Here is our top 3 leaderboard: 1st: Howe (4) $66/lap 2nd: Hawes (6) $62/lap 3rd: Morgan (2) $54/lap Here is tonight’s challenge-Share Challenge: The class that obtains the most Shares collectively will earn an EXTRA FREE RECESS with the Apex Team next week! Today (5/1) was STEP #2 of becoming STRONG Leaders with our Apex Team, and what it means to be TRUSTWORTHY. In order for leaders to be trustworthy, we have to do what we say and be accountable for our actions. The best teams are filled with members who can rely on and trust each other. When we are trustworthy, we earn more freedom! 'Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.' Proverbs 3:5-6 Here is tonight’s challenge- Participation Challenge: The class that has the most students participate tonight by obtaining a pledge of any amount and entering onto myapexevent.com will get to have a Popsicle Party with the entire Apex Team! Let’s keep helping our school! Be sure to check out the SHARE feature on your child's page where you can share his/her pledge page via email, text and social media. Books can help us stay focused on Jesus as the center of the Advent season! Today, our Guest Reader brought books that reminded Bethany first graders of these truths: first, that Christmas is God’s gift to us and second, that Jesus wants to be welcomed into our hearts. Thank you, Mrs. Parry, for such beautiful and timely reminders!

We’re getting prepared for Advent - the season of waiting - in first grade. Our Advent “wreath” (made from student-traced hand cutouts) is ready to count down the weeks to Jesus’ birth. Each week we will “light” a candle to symbolize the Light of Christ coming into the world. We wait. He comes.
